Favoreto Team
(2017-2023)
Favoreto Team is a Brazilian Muay Thai team. In 2017, its owner and master, Mauro, hired me to rebrand his old logo.
Sketch
Mauro evidences fondness for skull designs through his related tattoos. Based on that, I created a sketch featuring a skull with a mongkol, a very traditional headband worn by thai athletes before their fights.
”Favoreto Team” typography was inspired by glove designs of Thailand brands, while “Muay Thai School” relates to Thai script.
Finally, the ornaments were based on Lai Thai Art, an ancient decorative pattern style.
Rooster is one of the creatures of the Himmapan Forest, from the Thai Mithology. Being a very dynamic animal, it’s also a great design element.
As a second sketch option, I drew two rooster fighting. This concept incorporates both the Thailand culture and the combative aspect of Favoreto Team.
Typography followed the same references of the first sketch, but with a different composition.
Rendering
Mauro chose the skull sketch to proceed with. I studied the contrast in Photoshop, aiming a bold look. Final shapes were done in Illustrator.
In 2023, we updated the logo typography and details, to achieve a bolder look. Main colors are black and white, but I created additional possibilities of combinations.
